Exhibition of the Best Latvian Product Packaging in the Museum for Communication Berlin

Graci was awarded the Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best

In collaboration with the packaging design agency DPJN, the Gracibrand was awarded the Red Dot Design Award for the HEALTH muesli packaging line, considered amongst experts in the design world as one of the most renowned design prizes. The brand packages are exhibited alongside other creative product packaging samples in the Museum of Communication Berlin until January 13, 2019.

Graci (SIA Felici) received recognition from an international jury judging 8,600 participating designs from 45 applicant countries. Graciis the first brand in the Baltics to be granted with the “Best of the Best” category - only 1% of the yearly submitted works receive the award. The category contains winners of important brands such as Ferrari, Apple, LG, Nike, Audi, and Siemens. After the Red Dot Gala on October 26, Graciproducts were exhibited in the Museum of Communication Berlin alongside other “Best of the Best” laureates. In 2019, all the winning samples will travel to the Red Dot Design Museum Essenin Essen, Germany. It will be the first Latvian packaging design sample exhibited in this museum.

Graci has been developing functional products with natural and high nutritional values for more than five years, assigning a capital letter on their packaging referencing the product’s specific function. What used to consist of manual work has now been changed for a mechanized production in a new factory in Adazi, Latvia. In addition, the packaging of the brand was refreshed by the DPJN design agency, which received its fourth Red Dot Award in only 20 years of experience. This, however, is the first one of this category’s level and importance.

“The challenge was to continue with Graci’s distinctive design parameters whilst providing the product a new breath of fresh air. In order to achieve successful cohesion with the designers, goals were precisely given, all while relying on the designer’s expertise and knowledge. The process was complicated and lengthy, but the results were worth it,” explained Alise BalgalveGraci’s idea author and manager. “After the introduction of our new packaging in the market we have been receiving positive reviews from customers. Our clients are displaying the products on shelves with the specific sequence that portrays the word HEALTH, which immediately catches the customer’s attention in stores and exhibitions. This victory is further positively rated by our export partners”.

Graci’sfunctional breakfast products line HEALTH received the higher recognition “Best of the Best” of the “Communication Design”, which is under the subcategory “Packaging Design”. This can be considered an important achievement in Latvian and Baltic design history. “Its importance is evident from the fact that only five packaging designs received this recognition”, says Karlis Kriekis, DPJN founder and creative director. “We are happy and proud that Latvian designer works are recognized and shown abroad. Latvia can – and not worse than others!”

The Red Dot Design Award stems back to the year 1955. It is an international design competition with three categories: Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept.

Graci’spackages can be seen in the Museum for Communication Berlin until January 13, 2019. Address: Leipziger Strasse 16, 10117 Berlin, Germany.
